Let's get to know each other.
I Solve Problems
I'm a digital strategist, writer, editor, and Scrum Master-certified project manager in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I use my background in journalism, publishing, and research to bridge the gaps between design, development, and business strategy. I've worked in-house at organizations and as a consultant. I specialize in working with nonprofits, universities, cultural institutions, and retailers.
I currently work as a senior copywriter at American Eagle Outfitters.
You can find my writing in Venus Zine, Philadelphia Weekly, Pop City, Pittsburgh City Paper, Detroit Metro Times, and Pittsburgh Magazine. I do music journalism and cultural criticism for the most part, though I've also covered architecture, design, sustainability, and food and drink. I recently completed my MFA in nonfiction from Goucher College.
New ideas and concepts excite me. I love sizing up a good challenge and coming up with a way forward.
I hold an MA in Communication from the University of Pennsylvania, where I studied gender and consumer culture. There, I sharpened my research skills, including ethnography, interviewing, and content analysis.
I hold BAs in Journalism and Women's Studies from Penn State University, where I served as Student Marshal for the College of Communications, made Phi Beta Kappa, and worked every semester at the Daily Collegian, which taught me from the get-go how to juggle priorities, meet deadlines, work across disciplines, and heavily caffeinate.
I have taught courses in cultural studies and writing at Penn State University and Chatham University.
I've worked as a preschool teacher, which means I know how to meet people where they are, and connect with them at their level, even if their level is elbow-deep in finger paint, or hanging upside-down on the monkey bars.
It's crucial to take time to breathe. Cooking is my meditation. Books are my escape. Concerts are my cardio. Travel is my reset.
